One of the most famous and grueling triathlons in the world, the Ironman in Lanzarote consists of a 3,86 km swim, a 180,25 km bicycle ride and a marathon (42,20 km). Another legendary triathlon is the Challenge Roth, which takes place in Germany every year. Belgian triathlete Bart Aernouts won both the Lanzarote Ironman and the Challenge Roth of 2017 – and he did it with his 3D-printed Phits insoles.

World’s Fastest Electric Racecar Breaks Record at Zandvoort by 16 Seconds

The passionate students behind InMotion have an ambitious goal – to create the fastest electric formula racecar in the world. And after years of research and development, they are starting to see results. Last weekend, the team got to see their IM/e racecar in action at Zandvoort, the largest racetrack in the Netherlands, and managed to do the circuit in a record-breaking 1:48.371 seconds – that’s 16 seconds faster than the previous electric lap record!

The Trophée PME Bougeons-Nous was created six years ago to reward local small and medium enterprises in France for their innovation, enthusiasm and energy. Last week Aoyama Optical France, one of our key partners in eyewear, took home the Export prize due to the high percentage of 3D-printed glasses they export outside of France. The Hibbot: Teaching Children with Cerebral Palsy to Walk, One Step at a Time

Meet Yano De Laet, a young boy who suffers from Cerebral Palsy. Cerebral Palsy (CP) is a permanent movement disorder caused by a lesion in the developmental brain which causes muscle weakness, abnormal tone, movement disorders and balance problems. The brain damage often occurs before or during the birth of the child, and there is no cure for the condition. Yano regularly undergoes consultations at the Cerebral Palsy Reference Center at Pellenberg, UZ Leuven in Belgium, and after hearing about the Hibbot, his doctor thought he would be an ideal candidate for the project.

Setting Sail for the Seven Provinces: Materialise 3D-Prints a Ship Replica

Rotterdam-based design studio, & designshop, received a unique request. Founded by Elwin and Nynke van der Hoek, the design studio and shop was tasked with recreating the magnificent Seven Provinces galleon, a 17th century warship anchored in the Rotterdam harbor, on a scale that would just about fit in an office lobby. But building scale replicas of ships is a long, labor-intensive project, and doing so by hand can take up to a year and a half — whereas they had only seven months. The answer? 3D Printing! The result is this magnificent 1.5-meter-long model, designed by & designshop and printed at Materialise. Meet the Seven Provinces, and its 3D-printed scale replica.
