How It Works: Technology Videos
Selective Laser Sintering (SLS)
A powder-based process, where a laser is used to fuse powdered polymers layer-by-layer.
Stereolithography (SLA)
A liquid-based process where a laser is used to harden photosensitive liquid resins layer-by-layer.
Multi Jet Fusion (MJF)
A powder-based technology without lasers. A nozzle deposits fusing and detailing agents on a powdered polymer bed layer-by-layer. Heating elements fuse the agents together to create the part.
Metal 3D printing
A powder-based process, a laser fuses powdered metals together layer-by-layer.
Fused Deposition Modelling (FDM)
A filament-based technology where a temperature-controlled head extrudes a thermoplastic material layer by layer onto a build platform. A support structure is created where needed and built in a water-soluble material.
