To commemorate the iconic mouse’s 90th birthday in style, Disney reached out to Materialise to create three 3D-printed sculptures of Mickey. These statues were then featured in events marking the big birthday in a pop-up venue in Brussels, Belgium, and included collaborations with artists who used the 3D-printed statues as blank canvases, allowing them to reinterpret and play on the character’s emblematic look.

Julia Koerner is an inter-disciplinary designer, experienced in architecture, industrial and fashion design, and specialized in 3D-printed wearables.

Between Memory and Reality: Artists Use TetraShell to Create Bronze Tree Sculpture

Artist duo L+S were commissioned with creating a piece of art for Ullerntunet, a nursing home in Oslo, Norway. Their concept included installing a two-part sculpture in the grounds of the center, made up of a four-meter-high tree and its replica in bronze. Here is how the artists realized their vision based on a 3D scan of the original tree, as well as using 3D Printing and TetraShell investment casting to create the sculpture.
