Now that you've read our previous blog post and learned about the Benin Summer School and how the 8 students in the summer school were selected, here’s a bit more information on some of the projects a few of the students are working on.
7-year-old Joos fell on the playground at school leaving him with a double arm fracture. After his arm healed and the cast was removed, his arm was completely crooked and his arm was not functioning the way it should: suddenly he could not do some of his favorite things such as summersaults or handstands.
The third edition of the Benin Summer School is in full swing! But what is the Summer School all about? And who are the students our Materialise volunteers are working with?
One of our favorite designers, Anouk Wipprecht is starting this cool new collaborative project that we at Materialise are really thrilled to tell you about. We already absolutely love her “Smoke Dress” and Cirque du Soleil pieces that she’s printed with Materialise, and are excited to see the final result of her next project: an open source dress that will be made by parts designed by YOU.
Om Nom, Toss, Roto, Boo, Blue and Lick are mobile game characters with millions of fans around the world — and the start of an adventure for one 3D print business. Toyze is an app where users can create, customize, and order 3D printed figurines of popular mobile game characters (including the cast of Zeptolab's beloved Cut the Rope series.) The app has already garnered praise by major publications such as VentureBeat, 3Dprint.com, and Yahoo Finance. How'd they do all that in under a year?

After all, series size is far from the only parameter that decides the success of your Additive Manufacturing project. With the 3D Print Barometer, Materialise developed a free tool that goes beyond replying, “It depends,” and provides tangible insights in the feasibility of 3D Printing your product.
Nick Ervinck’s art can be seen all around Belgium. If you’ve passed through Roeselare, you might have seen his artwork on the side of the Maselis grain factory. If you live in Leuven, you may have seen his exhibition at the M Museum. While walking on the beach, you might have passed by some of his sculptures in Bredene.
The results are in from the runners featured in last week’s blog post. The team we sponsored at the Zurich Marathon fundraising for non-profit Hear the World Foundation finished with a time of 3 hours and 43 minutes. Way to go, team!
