How to run a calibration job for the Simulation module

The Magics Simulation module creates virtual prototypes of your parts, so that you can visualize build risks. Based on this information, you can make the necessary modifications to increase build and part quality before actually building the part. The first step is to do a calibration to make sure that the behaviour of your 3D printer and your material will be used in the simulation calculations. This tutorial explains how to do a calibration job.

Description of the different steps

  1. Go to the Simulation ribbon, and click on Prepare calibration build. If needed, position the calibration parts on the build plate.
  2. After printing, do not apply heat treatment on the calibration build. Instead, measure the z-height of each calibration part, wire-cut the parts through the teeth, and measure the deformation of the parts after cutting.
  3. Go to the Simulation ribbon, and click on Calibration.
    1. Enter the Job name, export location, calibration Profile name, material type, Cut height, and the Part deformation values. Your calibration job will be added to the Job Manager.
      1. If you have not yet opened it, the window will appear when you click on Job Manager in the Plug Ins ribbon.
      2. If you’ve already opened it before, go to the system tray, find the Job Manager, right-click and select Show/Hide.
    2. Go to the Job Manager and Run the calibration job.
    3. Once the job is finished, your calibration profile will be ready to use.
